Las Vegas lawyer Sigal Chattah has announced that she would be a Nevada attorney general candidate in the 2022 election. So, she would compete with the present Nevada AG, namely Aaron Ford. For the uninitiated, the election for the US state’s AG takes place once every four years.

Sigal Chattah and COVID-19 Restrictions in Nevada

Chattah is known for litigating Nevada’s Governor Steve Sisolak for the COVID-19 restrictions that Sisolak enforced on Nevada churches, as well as his vaccination plan. As a GOP, she represented the religious establishments that challenged the governor’s restrictions, citing that those breached First Amendment entitlements. For your information, the word ‘GOP’ refers to a US Republican Party member.

The governor placed a strict restriction on the number of attendees for indoor gatherings related to religion. Many felt that he would put a capacity cap on the basis of fire-code-related capacities, as business enterprises were forced to obey.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit passed a judgment that favored those churches in Nevada. Ford, who worked as the attorney for the governor of Nevada and its executive branch, justified the ordinance.

Nevada’s inhabitants deserve an AG who would not only fight for the people but also look after their friends with special interest, said Chattah. She described AG Ford as the ‘lapdog’ of the governor, who has been ignoring all the inhabitants and doing nothing when Nevada and its precious business enterprises experience full devastation.

Chattah said that as the state AG, she would preserve the constitutional rights of Nevadans at all times.

In response, Ford highlighted the COVID-19 death count in Nevada as of March 04, 2021.

Instead of playing politics, Ford’s focus was on mourning with the households with lost relatives due to COVID-19, plus doing everything possible to stop more state residents from laying their relatives to rest.

Ford stated that over the last year as AG, he directed the funds Nevada got in a settlement before the epidemic to be utilized to keep the natives homebound. He also said that he justified Nevada’s efforts to keep the virus from spreading at that time.

He was elected as AG three years ago after working in the capacity of the Nevada Senate’s majority leader.

Sigal Chattah and COVID-19 Vaccines in Nevada

Chattah submitted a lawsuit earlier this year for many septuagenarian Nevadans who challenged the governor’s tactics for the coronavirus vaccines. She asserted that individuals aged 65 years and more have to be prioritized.

After that, the governor reduced the age of eligibility to 70 years before the two accepted to dismiss their case about when Nevada made vaccinations accessible to people aged 65 years or more.

Going by the bio on the website of her law firm, Chattah Law Group, she moved from her birthplace Israel to the US state at the age of 14 years.

She started a Nevada-based law firm back in 2002. The attorney has also acted in the capacity of a Las Vegas Planning Commission member.
