Congressman Amodei To Not Compete In Gubernatorial Election

US Representative Mark Amodei declared that he would not join the crowded Republican field of candidates for Nevada’s 2022 gubernatorial election. Instead, Amodei will look to be reelected in the Second Congressional District.

He was thinking about competing in the election but chose to postpone deciding on it until the autumn season so that he could better understand the situation. Amodei suggested that his gut did not let him enter the state gubernatorial race, and that he could not finish the job if he was hired for a task.

He also suggested that all the campaign work would take much full-time and interactive strategizing, with fundraisers and pancake breakfasts. He jokingly stated that he would not like to compete for the position as seemingly everybody else is in this race.

Some of the candidates looking to unseat present Governor Steve Sisolak are Michele Fiore, Joe Lombardo, Dean Heller, Joey Gilbert, and John Lee. Fiore is a Las Vegas councilor. Lombardo is Clark County’s Sheriff. Heller is an erstwhile US Senator. Lee is the Mayor of North Las Vegas. On the other hand, Gilbert is a boxer. There could be more gubernatorial candidates on the way. June 14, 2022, is the date slated for the next Nevada Primary Election.

Amodei is the lone GOP member of the state’s congressional delegation. While Amodei feels that some other Republican would fill his seat, he stated that it is difficult to be someone new to the job. Amodei was elected as the Congressional District’s representative for the first time ten years ago. He now serves as a member of the House Committee on Appropriations.

Amodei has built the right contacts during his Congress tenure. He stated that he would keep paying attention to federal land administration issues as well as aid the Navy and Air Force in expanding their Nevada training ranges. He also stated that he would prioritize things that impact Nevada’s employees and border issues.
