Amodei Chooses Against Bidding For Governor Of Nevada Until October

A voter.

US Representative Mark Amodei stated that he is yet to decide whether to compete in reelection or bid for Nevada’s governor position. Nevertheless, Amodei is not impressed by the fact that GOP primary field has vied to challenge Steve Sisolak, who is in his first term as a Democratic Governor.

A GOP from Carson City, Amodei stated that he is in no rush to arrive at the decision, as there are 11 more months to go for Nevada’s primary election. If Amodei gets into the race, then he would join Sheriff of Clark County Joe Lombardo, Nevada lawyer Joey Gilbert, and former Mayor of North Las Vegas John Lee in the GOP primary field. Dean Heller, an Ex-Senator from Nevada, has told GOP groups that he is considering a run too.

Amodei has decided to form a decision about the matter in October this year. Until now, he finds it comfortable to avoid making the decision, which confirms his instinct that nobody is prepared to choose a governor this summer.

Since 2011, Amodei has been the Representative for the Second Congressional District of Nevada. Amodei represented the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City earlier in the statehouse. He keeps raising campaign contributions to one more congressional run.

Recently published campaign finance-related reports demonstrate that he raised about $90,000 over the last three months. Under federal legislation, candidates cannot transfer the funds raised during state office campaigns to federal government campaigns. However, Nevada’s law does not ban them from transferring federal money to the US state campaign-related accounts.

Under the law, candidates for Nevada state office must file campaign-related finance reports only annually in the years with no election. Therefore, it is not clear how the contributions of Amodei stack up to those of other GOP gubernatorial candidates. Sisolak ended last year with up to about $4.50 million as available campaign cash. In 2018, former AG of Nevada Adam Paul Laxalt spent around $9.40 million on his gubernatorial election campaign, whereas Sisolak spent about $14.20 million on it.
